Generative AI in Business

AI In Action in Business is designed for DMSB students and others interested in business, where we’ll explore the range of possible uses of AI and machine learning.  The session will feature a special industry guest, Kavya Maddala of Morgan Stanley, who will focus, in particular, on the uses of Generative AI in business. Although we will briefly explain the different methods in the world of AI, the session will mostly be about applications and how to successfully use AI.

Dr. Jacknis brings decades of executive and leadership experience across the public and private sectors. He has successfully led organizations to adopt innovations, creatively use technology, and embrace data-driven cultures. He is currently a Professor of Practice in Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Northeastern University and was previously a full-time faculty member at Columbia University, teaching machine learning and AI. As a Senior Fellow of the Intelligent Community Forum, he collaborates with officials and businesses on tech-driven improvements. Formerly an executive at Cisco and CIO of Westchester County, NY, Dr. Jacknis led major tech initiatives and received numerous awards for his work. He has also held significant roles in library leadership and published extensively on technology and community impact.

Kavya Maddala

Vice President & Product Owner for the GenAI Centre of Enablement 

Morgan Stanley 

Kavya is the Product Owner for the GenAI Centre of Enablement at Morgan Stanley’s Firmwide AI Division. With over 15 years in technology and engineering, she has led Site Reliability Engineering and Platform Operations at major financial institutions. Kavya drives AI innovation and digital transformation, focusing on data-driven strategies to enhance service delivery and adopt advanced technologies. She holds a BTech in Computer Science from Andhra University and an MS in Technology Management from Columbia University.
